food & nutrition

Food is a valuable, enriching subject within today’s modern society. Teaching students a life skill that they will enjoy and continue to use for the rest of their lives is a rare opportunity as a subject. Nutrition is essential for the mental and physical development of children, food and nutrition provides students with an understanding of the relationship between diet, nutrition and health providing them with the knowledge to make educated choices throughout their school life and beyond.

The Department supports a whole school approach to Food and Nutrition, creating a culture of healthy eating and exercise.

The department has been hugely successful in recent years, with the number of students opting to study Food increasing significantly. We currently offer Hospitality and Catering as our chosen specification for GCSE.
