GUIDANCE COURSES
triple p parenting program
We are pleased to inform you of an up and coming program to be held at Les Quennevais School next term.
Jersey’s Parenting Services have offered us the opportunity to run a series of seminars and discussion groups focusing on how we can best support young people.
The program is called “The Triple P Positive Parenting Program” and aims to cover such ground as:
· Building a positive relationship between parent and child.
· Raising happy, confident children and teenagers.
· Managing behaviour in a positive way.
· Guiding families in rules and routines that everyone follows.
· Getting along better with children and teenagers.
· Balancing work and family commitments.
The first Seminar; Getting Teenagers Connected, will be held on Wednesday 12 February from 6.30pm until 7.45pm. The session will have a focus on positive parenting. Time will be given to ask questions at the end of the evening and a “tip sheet” will also be made available to take home.
Further sessions relating to “Coping with Teenagers Emotions” and “Reducing Family Conflict” will be available in March and April.
The Triple P Positive Program is available to all parents and carers of Les Quennevais School students. Should you wish to take part in this opportunity, please book a place online, via the following link:

year 11 emotional skills workshop
One of the greatest challenges we all face in today’s busy world is teaching children the skills to understand and manage their own emotions and mental health. The teenage years are a time of considerable change. Managing the pressures of friendships, exams, changing bodies and minds can be highly emotional.
Over the next half term, in conjunction with the Government of Jersey Primary Mental Health Team and our School Based Counsellor, we will be offering a small group of students the opportunity to undertake a two hour workshop covering these areas. Please click on the link below for further details.
Students will learn a number of skills for managing intense emotions in a healthy way. Students will not be expected to discuss their personal details or situation within the group.
The workshop will be held in school on Wednesday 5 February 2020 at 10.15. If you would like your son or daughter to be considered for a place on the workshop, please contact our Head of Guidance, Mrs E Morley.
