Jersey and British Values

Les Quennevais School promotes the fundamental British and Jersey values of:

  • Democracy

  • The rule of law

  • Individual liberty

  • Mutual respect and tolerance

It is our aim that students leave Les Quennevais prepared for life in Jersey, modern Britain and beyond.

These clear values are embedded in all areas of school life including:

  • Regular exposure within PSHE lessons where these values , along with other PSHE topics are explored, embedded and revisited.

  • Students are organised into three houses.  House membership directly links with British values through voting, taking part in discussion and debate and encouraging all to take part in house events.  House activities ensure students have a keen sense of awareness around social responsibility.

  • Les Quennevais takes part in a whole range of events such as The Peace Debate, youth parliament and the Holocaust Memorial Day where students are given a deeper understanding of both local and national issues

  • A weekly house assembly programme led by school leaders and external speakers addresses and considers many British and Jersey values.

  • The school is involved in many charity events both national and local throughout the year. Les Quennevais is proud to be recognised as a super fundraiser for Comic relief and we have been awarded the “Lenny Award” Local charity work includes Christmas Hampers for parish pensioners, tinathon and the Christmas shoe box appeal.
